the old finish is removed, crumbling plaster is cleaned off;
if the frame is to be mounted from wooden beams, it is necessary to additionally impregnate them with protective solutions. When installed, metal lathing leaves small distances from the ceiling, so it will be possible to disguise ventilation and communication systems;
To make the coating last longer, in addition to removing the old finish, plaster the base and cover it with a layer of deep penetration primer.
Providing vapor barrier
Before covering the ceiling with clapboard, you will need to install a layer of vapor barrier on the ceiling. With its help, you will protect the insulation and finishing material from moisture.

To install the vapor barrier, you will need to purchase foil, the thickness ios data which should be approximately 100 microns, and fix it to a construction stapler with wooden slats, placing a special tape underneath them.

First, in the room where the panels will be installed, determine the lowest corner and, stepping back from it down a distance equal to the height of the wooden beam and the thickness of the lamella, make a mark. Then, using a level, make marks in the other corners. All marks are connected to each other with an upholstery cord. The frame installation option is selected:

from a wooden beam. To do this, two beams are attached to opposite sides of the room, 10-15 cm away from the wall surface. They are fixed with nails or screws every 60 cm.
Important! The timber must be fastened perpendicular to the location of the lamellas.

The distance between the beams is 60-100 cm if wooden paneling is to be installed, and 40-60 cm when plastic panels are planned to be installed.

The lower edges of each beam should be parallel to the floor and be at the same level with the other beams. Having pulled a nylon thread along the lower side of the crossbars, the remaining beams are fastened. To strengthen the structure, lintels are mounted from a beam of the same dimensions;
