The most common mistakes made by online marketers

Post by sourovk291 »

We surveyed different departments at ActiveTrail: development, support, marketing, and sales, and asked them what the most common mistakes online marketers make are. Their answers will surprise you!

What our development team director tells us
“Many of our customers send their campaign to their own company. So the sender has the same domain name in his sender address as the recipient. This creates a problem: The email is detected as spam and is sent directly to the spam box.”

What is your recommendation?

I recommend using an external email address for the sending email address.

What our Marketing Director says
“Many online marketers rely on their own personal judgment to send their campaigns greece telegram without any external consultation. But ActiveTrail offers features that can help you deliver an impactful campaign: A/B testing for example.”

What are your emailing tips?

“Create a campaign with two slightly different versions: different subject lines, different colored links, an icon in the subject line, or any other type of personalization. With ActiveTrail’s AB Testing , you can send one version of your campaign to a sample of recipients and analyze which factors performed best. You can even analyze how different factors influenced specific metrics like open rate, click-through rate. Don’t hesitate to rely on this very useful tool!”

What technical support thinks
“In my opinion, the biggest mistake online marketers make is not testing before sending a campaign.”

The major email browser providers Gmail and Outlook are formatted differently and this can result in different displays on different screens. Running a full-scale test will show you exactly how your campaign will display in different recipients' inboxes, allowing you to make adjustments as needed.

What is your recommendation?

“I suggest opening an email account with each of your internet service providers and sending a test to each box before sending your campaign. This way you cover all the risks of erroneous display or lags in the display of your campaign.”

What one of our developers thinks
“Most online marketers use their own HTML code instead of using ActiveTrail's responsive email editor . The ActiveTrail system of course accepts external HTML code, however the ActiveTrail system is responsive: when you build a campaign with the ActiveTrail system, you can be sure that it will appear exactly the way you want on all types of screens (mobile phones, tablets, etc.). On the other hand, with a “homemade” HTML code, it is up to the online marketer to carry out the tests on the different reading media. However, this step is often ignored and this can lead to an unfavorable display on certain media. “

What are your emailing tips?

“We didn’t develop this responsive, smart, easy-to-use system for nothing: don’t hesitate to use it! Not only will you now be able to create a campaign all by yourself and save the cost of a designer. But you will also sleep better knowing that your campaign will display perfectly on each platform – just don’t forget to test with all email browsers. “

What our Community Manager thinks
“Recently I have received emails with spelling mistakes. We are all human and mistakes are inevitable. However, these mistakes make you appear unprofessional and should be avoided as much as possible.

Take the time to reread your campaign carefully; this will allow you to make easily avoidable mistakes.”

What is your recommendation?

“I recommend always checking your campaign before you hit the send button. I recommend asking one of your colleagues to take a look. An extra pair of eyes is always helpful. While it may seem like a hassle, it will pay off in the long run.”

What technical support thinks
“As we all know, time is money. That’s why we’re always looking for quick solutions. One of the shortcuts our customers often take is to copy/paste directly from Microsoft Word or Excel. Most of the time, this doesn’t work very well, with shifts in the display of your campaigns, especially in Gmail and Outlook boxes.”

What is your recommendation?

“I recommend to always use the “copy from word” icon in the ActiveTrail email editor. By doing this, you eliminate all the special characters that are not recognized by the different email browsers. You bypass the problem and save time.”

What ActiveTrail's Content Manager Thinks
“Everyone loves to party, celebrate events. Whether it’s celebrating the start of the holidays or a big snowstorm that will bring snow that will last for several days! These holidays are always excuses to send a special campaign. However, there are many online marketers who do not know how to use such excuses to send a campaign. Worse, they insist on sending regular campaigns by just slightly changing the subject and formatting, without ever deviating from their standard.

What is your recommendation?

“I recommend all online marketers to keep a calendar with special events of the year such as holidays, or the
