General presentation
Prestashop was launched in 2007 (by Epitech students) and quickly became a great success. Today, more than 300,000 e-commerce sites use this benchmark software. Prestashop is for e-commerce what WordPress is for blogging, that is to say, a free open source software that is very complete and at the same time easy to use. Several hundred e-commerce features are offered natively or as extensions (free or paid). It is entirely possible to use Prestashop, to manage your orders, your stocks and your products without having any technical knowledge in programming. The solution also offers the possibility of exporting your products to the main marketplaces, including eBay.

Features
Prestashop has very rich features, thanks in large part to its status as open source software. You have the choice between more than 2000 high-quality graphic themes to customize your store. There is something for all tastes / all sectors of activity. Many of these themes are responsive: the display of the pages adapts according to the device used (mobile, tablet, computer). Note that almost all themes are paid.

The editing interface (the back office) is very complete and chile whatsapp data quite quick to get to grips with. It is visually and structurally similar to the WordPress interface, with a side menu on the left. It is from this interface that you can very ergonomically manage your orders, your payment methods, your delivery methods and your customer files.

Prestashop allows you to create very detailed product sheets and configure an impressive number of parameters: quantities and stocks, colors, delivery, promotions, description, photos, etc. You can access sales statistics for each product sheet. Like all ecommerce software, Prestashop allows you to classify all your product sheets into personalized categories.

The Prestashop dashboard gives you access to the main e-commerce statistics, including turnover, average basket, number of sales and conversion rate. You can of course – it is even strongly recommended – connect your site to Google Analytics to access even more detailed statistics and work on your conversion. The level of SEO settings is very satisfactory. For each page, you can define a custom URL, a Title, a Meta Description and keywords.

The native Prestashop features are already quite complete, but if you have specific business needs you will need to install extensions, called "modules" on Prestashop. There are more than 300 of them, enough to meet all kinds of business needs.

Prestashop is a software that is free to use…which does not mean that your e-commerce site will cost you nothing. A starter pack is offered to you for €269.99 in order to have access to 12 essential integrated modules (in particular for payment methods and delivery), 3 months of technical support, 1 theme and 1 user guide.

The themes, as we have seen, are almost all paid (around fifty euros on average). Many modules, including some essential ones, are also paid. Finally, you will have to include in your budget the cost of hosting and the cost of maintaining your e-commerce site .
