"Sandwich"
This is the most common model of feedback. It is quite simple and convenient in practical use.
Features: in this case, one developmental feedback is placed between two positive feedback techniques.
This design determined the memorable name "Sandwich". The model can be used in discussions when setting tasks, summing up results, at events for employee development. As a rule, it is not used for educational conversations, in situations related to the detection of violations, as well as in cases where it is necessary to correct the employee's behavior.
Situation: Yuri, a manager in homeowner database the sales department, has met the quota for volumes and the number of active buyers. But the task of selling the new product is only half complete.
Example:
Start the conversation with a positive attitude: "Yuri, it is worth emphasizing that this month you were among the best managers who fully met the sales plan. I know that you had to work hard and also build relationships with many customers. In terms of the number of active clients, you are one of the leaders in our company." After such praise, the employee will be ready for a subsequent discussion of those areas of his work that need improvement.
Sandwich Model for Employee Feedback
Review the employee's areas of responsibility that require improvement. Then agree on a plan for further action:
"You have room for improvement. You need to pay attention to the growth of sales of the recently launched model. This month you managed to do only half of the plan for this section. It is important for the company to bring this model to all sites. Maybe we can discuss what can be done to increase this figure in a month?"
Please note that there is no criticism in these phrases. This is constructive dialogue.
Try to end the conversation on a positive note. “Great! We’ve agreed on our plan, and now it’s time to act. I’m sure that with such a talent for finding a common language with all customers, you’ll accomplish the task very easily.
