SOCIAL NETWORKS ARE TEENAGERS' NONSENSE!

Have you ever heard this phrase? Have you ever said that social networks are nonsense for teenagers, in response to a question about your performance as a professional on the internet?

If your answer was yes, know that unfortunately, you are not alone in this country.

One of the most striking things I have noticed about the Internet is its power of camouflage; let me explain: It manages to go unnoticed by people who are there and don't realize it, people who buy on the Web and say that selling on the Web is an illusion, and that it doesn't work. Crazy, isn't it?!

As for social networks, many businesspeople say the same thing: “This social network thing is teenage nonsense!”

For those who many call Generation “X,” an American analogy for the buy real estate agent email list generation of people who formed their entire knowledge base and career in a pre-internet era, saying that the Web is not necessary for their business is already questionable. Let’s imagine discussing this subject with young professionals who are entering the market, with the “Orkut” vision of social networks.

Forgive me, fans of this declining social network, but explaining to businesspeople and young entrepreneurs that media and social networks are not just places to flirt and prospect extramarital relationships has become routine for professionals in the commercial areas of digital advertising agencies.

Not that I'm complaining, but we're past the information age, the internet is already an old acquaintance, today we live in the age of communication. Access to people is easier, relationships, conversations, conferences. To be narrow-minded about the opinion that gathering crowds on digital platforms is useless and only results in nonsense, is too small, short-sighted and only reinforces the challenge of our profession. After all, as web professionals, we have the responsibility to evangelize the culture of using technology for professional purposes, and to educate our clients and users about more social and productive habits on our platforms.
