Online on the move
Research shows that more people use Twitter when they are on the move than when they are at home. 1 in 4 Europeans has access to a smartphone while on the move and 1 in 3 Europeans regularly accesses the internet via their mobile phone. This trend, which started in 2009, will continue to expand in the coming years. It is expected that in 2015 more than half of all internet traffic will take place via mobile phones. So no longer from the computer (laptop, tablet or ultrabook) at home, but 'on the move' and 'on the spot'

From scanning to recognizing
In 2009, Shopsavvy made a mobile breakthrough, using your phone’s camera to scan product barcodes. Think of ingredients and prices at grocery stores, or reviews and recommendations for books, CDs and DVDs.

The barcode has now been replaced by the QR code. If you are to believe the stories, it is a new and emerging technology. Admittedly, the code is very recognizable, but this way of content linking is anything but innovative and not always very handy . The QR code will therefore make way for Augmented Reality markers (also think of Points of Interest based on GPS). This technology will become accessible to a wider target group in the near future. For example, the Dutch Layar comes with a very useful application for magazines.

Currently, there is a shift from so-called 'fiducial' markers to Natural Feature Tracking , or NFT markers. This allows any image containing sufficient detail to be used as the basis for augmentation.

The use of QR codes and AR markers will be further replaced in the future by image recognition , where not only the code or marker, but the entire image is recognized. The technology has been ready for this for a while, now the consumer is still waiting. A major step will be taken when smartphones are integrated with recognition software as standard, so that separate applications no longer need to be installed.

A great example of image recognition where offline is the trigger for online is the Adidas iApp . With the help of this app you take a picture of a pair of Adidas shoes. Then you get an overview of the Adidas shoes and the nearest store where you can buy bulgaria phone number list them. In this case the product itself is the advertisement and the driver to the store. This is the future!

The masses are starting to discover location services like Foursquare and Facebook Places, but in the coming year, 'checking in' will be replaced by 'being checked in'. Your mobile phone is like a 'tracking device' for advertisers. They know where you are, at any time. Wherever you are, you will receive special offers from shops and restaurants in the area. Based on your preferences on Facebook, for example, you will receive tailored offers, which will make it less likely to be experienced as spam.

Furthermore, 'location crossovers' will become increasingly popular. Think of the library at the station . Ordering with your mobile phone on the way to the station and picking it up at the station. In this way, you meet the consumer's need for authenticity (a real book instead of a tablet), without them having to lug around large books. Because when you get off the train, you simply return the book.

Smart advertisers ensure that consumers can respond directly to commercial messages, even when they are 'on the move'.
