Much of TikTok's appeal lies in its effects. Built-in filters, effects, and graphics allow you to create masterpieces in a snap—like a video where your eyes ignite to a Megan Thee Stallion hit.
Tap the + icon to start your video.
Tap the Effects menu , to the left of the record button.
Scroll right to see the different subcategories, from "Animals" to "Funny." Tap an effect to preview it.

TikTok's Most Popular Editing Features
Not sure where to start? Our advice: learn the most popular features.
The green screen
Transport yourself to the setting of your choice with the green screen effect.
Simply press the Effect button to the left of the Record button, then locate the Green Screen tab. There are many different background styles to choose from, but they all share the same principle: overlaying a video of yourself onto a fake background.
Tip : Film yourself, then use this video as a backdrop to interact with your virtual self!
TikTok Duos
The duet tool lets you share the screen between your content and another user's content to sing or dance together... or other even wackier activities.
To duet, tap the share button in the bottom right corner of a video, then tap Duet . Note that users must allow duets for this to work, so you won't be able to do this on all videos.
Adding text
It's rare to find a TikTok video without text. To share a few words of wisdom or add captions, head to the final editing screen.

Appearance, disappearance and transformation
No special technical skills are required to pull off this incredibly popular TikTok trick: simply record clips that start where the previous one left off. Transition into the clips by snapping your fingers, covering the camera with your palm, or stepping out of the frame entirely.
Cloning
TikTok regularly releases new effects, filters, and features, so today's most popular edits won't be tomorrow's. Regardless, this clone effect is everywhere right now. Keep an eye on the Discover tab to stay on top of trends.
