3. The 2016 National Call for Training Subsidies has just been presented. Can you give us any news about upcoming course

Today we spoke with Mariam GarcĂ­a Veiga, Head of Digital Marketing at Grupo Femxa . Mariam, in your department you are in direct contact with your students and interested parties through social media.

1. What role do social networks play in your business?

For us, they are essential, working tools that help us to make known what we do and how we do it. For some time now we have been making a great effort to communicate more with our students and potential students, to open new channels of communication and attention such as online chat or WhatsApp. An effort to get closer to them, to show ourselves, to establish direct communication with them, to know what really matters to them, what needs they have and to resolve each and every one of their doubts practically immediately. Little by little we are taking small steps in the right direction.

2. Based on the feedback you receive from your students, what can you tell us about the type of training they most demand?

All profiles have great training needs, but if I had to highlight one, it would be boys and girls under 30.

The current economic situation makes it very difficult for young people to access training and training for employment is presented as an excellent option to continue training in a specialized way or completely oriented towards the labor market.

We are betting heavily on gamification, storytelling, video and interactivity so that online training becomes a successful experience.

Furthermore, our online platform is very easy to use and intuitive, so any student, whether or not they have experience in online training and regardless of their age, can use it without any difficulty.

And the truth is that the online modality offers unbeatable advantages, since you can train at your own pace and from wherever you want. That's why, for both workers and unemployed, they are the perfect option, since it allows you to study and train without having to change your lifestyle. You decide where and when. And all our online courses are adapted to any device! So you can take your course with you in your pocket. We will finally have a wide range of online courses.

4. This summer you launched Femxa Summer School. Can you tell us how this idea came about?

Improving our website and opening new communication channels with our students allows us to learn first-hand what their problems are, what training needs they have and what subjects they like and are most interested in. And their needs were clear: digital skills.

Anything to do with the creation of digital content, blogging, personal branding 2.0, social networks, Linkedin, video creation, etc. are hot topics, and not just among the youngest! So we got to work to shape this summer school.

This is the first time we have launched an initiative of this kind, and it has also been a significant challenge, since all the teachers and speakers of #FemxaSummerSchool are professionals in the digital world and also colleagues; so the effort to carry out all this has been double. From here I thank them for their generosity and dedication. Thanks to them the workshops have been a great success and we have had to double the dates in each one of them.

Vigo has been the first city in which we have taught all these workshops, but it will not be the only one!

5. How has the students responded?

From the very beginning, it was clear to me that this had to be a summer school that was completely free and 100% open to everyone.

Access to our Training for Employment courses is usually subject to access requirements, which means that, unfortunately, many people interested in our courses are sometimes unable to take them. That is why we knew that this was a great opportunity to remove all the barriers to entry to our training and what better way to do it than through our Summer School. The only limit is the capacity!

The result? The truth is that it has been a great success in terms of attendance, and the best thing is that everyone who tries it, comes back. A very high percentage of students have wanted to attend all our workshops, so after their time at the summer school they will have the necessary tools to carry out their own digital transformation and shine on the Internet with their own light.

Well, since not everything in life is digital, it would be interesting to also talk about the service we provide to students from the Student Services department.
