When it comes to artificial intelligence , we now have to move from strategy to implementation. The key points of the strategy were decided seven months ago, and the Federal Cabinet adopted the strategy itself three months ago. In AI, the world has changed several times during this time, and global tech companies have massively pushed forward their developments. We now have to move away from theory and towards practice, and as quickly as possible.
It would be an important step if we were to fill at least 20 of the planned 100 AI professorships this year. And it would be equally important to invest the 500 million euros earmarked for this year in the targeted development of AI lighthouse projects in order to be able to expand them step by step in the coming years.
These lighthouse projects must have an australia gambling data international appeal so that we can bring the best AI experts to Germany. We must offer them working conditions that are internationally competitive. This applies to the equipment of the professorships as well as salaries and the legal framework for testing new AI technologies and solutions. A prerequisite for a successful AI strategy is an appropriate data strategy.
Even more than politics, the economy is called upon. It will be crucial to bring our excellent basic AI research into companies and use it to develop marketable products. In a Bitkom study, every second company is convinced that AI will be of great importance for the future competitiveness of German companies - but only one in nine actually uses the technology or at least discusses its use.
Today, entrepreneurial foresight means focusing intensively on the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is a key and cross-sectional technology. In the future, there will hardly be any products or services that do not use AI technology in one way or another. AI is therefore also crucial for the future viability of Germany as a business location and our future prosperity."
