We think the more data-driven it becomes, the more accountable SEO testing makes us, the more important it is that we connect the dots and make sure that when we connect them, we are getting real growth on a net basis. So I hope this has been useful for some of you. Thanks for joining me on this week's Whiteboard Friday. I'm Will Critchlow from Distilled. Content Link Building: Are Infographics Still the Highest ROI Format?
Fun fact: The first article to appear online declaring that “infographics are dead” was published in 2011. Yet, here we are.

For those of you looking for a quick answer to this strategy-defining question, infographics aren’t as popular as they were between 2014 and 2015. While they were a great format for building links, popular publications aren’t using them as often as this study shows. However, they’re still being used daily and garnering amazing placements and links albania number data their creators — and the data shows they’re already more popular in 2018 than they were in 2013.

Note: I am at the mercy of the publication I reviewed as to what their definition of an infographic is for capturing this data at scale. However, throughout my research, it will typically involve a relatively long text- and data-rich visualization of a specific topic.

The truth is, infographics are still one of the most widely used formats for building links and brand awareness, and from my outreach experiences, with good reason. Good static visuals or illustrations (as we now call them to avoid the industry’s self-imposed embarrassment) are often rich in content that is extremely easy for journalists to write about and embed, as anyone who has tried to send an iframe to a journalist can attest.
