Microsoft Copilot on WhatsApp: Everything you need to know

Post by Joyzfs444 »

Microsoft has announced the end of support for the Mail, Calendar, and People apps for Windows, which will officially end on December 31, 2024.

With this decision, users of traditional apps will be migrated to the new Outlook, an integrated and optimized platform that has been available since August of this year.

The change is part of a transition planned by the company since 2022, aiming to centralize functionalities and improve the user experience in the Windows environment.

What changes with the end of support for Windows Mail and Calendar
Starting in 2025, the Mail and Calendar apps will no longer work effectively on Windows.

With this, Microsoft is redirecting all users of these applications to the new Outlook, a chinese overseas america database service that integrates all the essential functions of the old apps and offers improvements in performance, security and usability.

This transition process began gradually and was made available to all users in Q3 2023.

Microsoft's decision to discontinue the apps reflects a unification strategy, making the new Outlook the primary platform for managing email, events, and contacts on Windows.

How will the transition to the new Outlook work?
For users still using Windows Email and Calendar, the migration can be done at any time.

Just access the applications and click on the option “Try the new Outlook”.

This version, which replaces legacy apps, was developed to maintain virtually all the functionality of the original applications, becoming a robust platform suitable for the Windows ecosystem.

If users are not satisfied with the new Outlook, they can switch back to the classic app, but this option will be temporary, as support for the old apps will be permanently discontinued after 2024.

Important dates for the transition
Users of the Email, Calendar, and People apps should be aware of the following dates and guidelines:

Availability of the new Outlook : Now available to all users.
End of support date : December 31, 2024.
Data migration : After support ends, messages, events, and other data will need to be manually exported if they are saved locally. Microsoft provides a tutorial to guide users on how to export this data.
With the end of support, Windows Email and Calendar will no longer allow you to send or receive messages, nor schedule events, becoming obsolete in the system.

Advantages and functions of the new Outlook
The transition to the new Outlook represents a step forward in terms of functionality and feature integration.

This new platform inherits the main functions of the Email and Calendar applications, but with differences that include:

Optimized integration : The new Outlook allows synchronization with other Microsoft 365 tools, making it easier to manage emails and appointments.
Enhanced security : New security and privacy features have been incorporated, reinforcing user data protection.
More modern and responsive interface : The new interface is more intuitive, ideal for facilitating the use and organization of information.
This platform unification allows Microsoft to focus improvements on Outlook, eliminating redundancies and ensuring greater stability for email and calendar services.
