Adobe XD and Responsive Web Design

Post by mostakimvip06 »

So let's start from the beginning, Adobe XD (Adobe Experience Design) is an application that can be obtained both in a full package from Adobe, and as a standalone application, which costs $9.99 per month on a subscription. Is it a lot? It depends. For comparison, selected competitive software costs: 0 - $45 per month (Figma), $9 per month (Sketch), $25 - $42 per month (Axure RP).

Okay, so what are the benefits of Adobe XD?

Advantages
Advantages
1. Simple, clear and quite intuitive interface
Adobe XD Interface
Despite its extensive functionality, Adobe XD is legible and relatively easy to use. It does not overwhelm users with a multitude of buttons, sliders and options. I can say with full conviction that the average computer and internet user can learn to use Adobe XD efficiently at a basic level in a few days. This is definitely one of the best options for people who have no patience and value convenience and minimalism.

2. Light weight of the program and low load on the computer
After the first launch of the program, we can see that it works quickly, efficiently, and the computer does not "get tired" while using it. Of course, if we create a project that will contain thousands of different components and high-resolution graphics, the program will not work as efficiently. However, we know from experience that designing a full, fairly extensive website is not a challenge for it in terms of optimization and efficient operation.

3. Continuous cloud storage
Adobe XD automatically saves the file in the cloud from the moment we create a project, so we don't have to worry about losing our files, even if we don't save the file on the local disk. Of course, this only works when we are connected to the network and until the file is saved on the disk.

4. Animation Design
Adobe XD, in addition to static design, also allows you to create simple animations that will react to your actions, such as button animations when you hover over them or an interactive slider that changes content when you czech republic telemarketing data click on it. In addition to interactions such as hovering or clicking, the program can also animate selected elements after a specified time from page loading and, interestingly, after a voice command.

5. Easy design export and interactive prototypes
In addition to the standard export of selected artboards as a photo, Adobe XD also has the ability to export PDF, SVG and interactive prototypes as a link. Such a link can lead to both a prototype in presentation mode (the best option if we want to present the layout to the client) or in development form, where you can easily find all the information and files important for coding, such as the distances between individual elements, fonts, colors or graphics used.

6. Add-ons and extensions
Adobe XD, although it is simple and pleasant to use, also has a very large database of all kinds of add-ons that we can install to it. These add-ons will help us to improve our work even more in various ways, from the ability to quickly add “lorem ipsum…” text, through conveniently adding free stock photos without the need to use a browser, to connections with external software.

7. Frequent updates
Adobe XD is probably the application that receives new updates most often from the entire Adobe suite, thanks to which bugs are constantly being fixed and new features are being introduced. For some, this may be problematic, but most often it is perceived as an advantage. The days of programs with vulnerabilities that have not been updated for years, such as Internet Explorer , are fortunately gone, which can be annoying, but is certainly a change for the better.

8. Collaborate live across multiple devices
This is a feature that until recently only Figma could boast, but today Adobe XD also has a real-time project co-creation function, thanks to which we can work remotely with other people at the same time.

Okay, but Adobe XD is not flawless, it also has its flaws:

Defects
Defects
1. Limited animations
It is known that Adobe XD is not a software created for designing animations , but the capabilities it currently has leave a lot to be desired. In addition, some quite basic interactions that trigger certain animations or design behaviors, such as swipe or pinch out , are also missing .

2. The need for updating
Yes, we wrote earlier about frequent updates as a benefit and this is a fact, but if any Adobe XD update appears, you have to install it immediately, otherwise when we run the program, we will find many errors in it that will prevent us from working effectively, and which were not there before.

3. Problems with working on multiple monitors with different resolutions
Often, but not always, Adobe XD has a problem switching between monitors that have different resolutions. For example, if we want to move the program window from a FullHD monitor (1920x1080) to a 4K (3840x2160), we may experience the so-called "crashing" of the program, after which it will close without warning.

Summary
Of course, each program has its advantages and disadvantages, and each designer must find the one that is most suitable for them and that they will enjoy working with the most. We, despite its several disadvantages, recommend Adobe XD software, especially when we use other programs from Adobe.
