A second location of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) is to be built in Freital near Dresden . A corresponding joint declaration of intent was signed on Thursday by the Federal Minister of the Interior, Building and Home Affairs, Horst Seehofer, and the State Minister of the Interior of the Free State of Saxony, Prof. Dr. Roland Wöller.

At the same time, the federal government and the state of Saxony will be strengthening their cooperation in the field of cyber and information security .

As the federal cyber security authority, the BSI is responsible for shaping cyber security in digitalization through prevention, detection and response. For cooperation with the federal states, the BSI has already established a national liaison system with contacts in the cities of Hamburg, Wiesbaden, Bonn and Stuttgart.

The joint declaration of intent now marks the start of the liaison work for the eastern region of Saxony. A contact person has been appointed to facilitate direct communication and improve the accessibility of the BSI on site.

In particular, we are building on the existing expertise at the Federal Office.
