Köppel's historic moment

Post by asimj1 »

For a moment, politics was once again being discussed in the National Council. Instead of political lobbyists who dictate everyday life in the Federal Palace, publisher and SVP National Councillor Roger Köppel took the podium and accused Federal Councillor Simonetta Sommaruga of wanting to dispossess the Swiss people in favour of African immigrants. She was ignoring the constitution and giving in to pressure from the EU authorities in Brussels. Sommaruga fled the room, hesitantly followed by SP National Councillors and some bourgeois parliamentarians.

It was Köppel's historic moment, as the young lebanon rcs data parliamentarian, who had been brilliantly elected in Zurich, showed that the Council was once again discussing things. But it was more than that: to the horror of many, Switzerland joined the political normality of our neighbouring countries, where tough discussions and arguments take place. No minister there would dream of fleeing the political stage.

It was also the beginning of the transition from a Blocher SVP to a Köppel SVP. The party of often rude loudmouths transformed at that moment, without changing its position, into the party of sharp-tongued bourgeois intellectuals. From now on, people will no longer ask themselves "What does Blocher say?", but rather "What does Köppel say.
