Even in a small team, one adapts

Post by Bappy11 »

The younger generation of string quartets is more agile and prefers decisions to be made by the team and not just by the first violin. Daily meetings, in this case daily rehearsals, are led in turn by each member. Rules are also laid down for the survival of the ensemble and constitute a manifesto of agile behavior: we never criticize a colleague's playing style, we test every proposal before adopting or rejecting it, at each rehearsal of a movement we start by playing it in its entirety before working on the details, after each concert we debrief at the next rehearsal in a logic of continuous improvement, etc.

A one's behavior to the group, putting aside one's soloist reflexes. Symptomatically, belgium telegram data one tunes one's instrument differently in a string quartet than as a soloist, by tightening the fifths, in an attempt to reduce the drama of any musician, which comes from the fact that 12 successive fifths do not exactly make 7 octaves. All this because Pythagoras never managed to make 3/2 to the power of 12 equal to 2 to the power of 7.

Like the agile methods that advocate standup meetings, it is funny to note that more and more string quartets now play standing up, except for the cellist of course, who is forced to remain seated by the pike of his instrument.
