YAHOO! DROPS OFF CONTEXTUAL ADVERTISING

Yahoo has abandoned its efforts in contextual advertising. As reported by ClickZ , the company has stated that it will now focus on its display business. Its contextual advertising division, similar to Google AdSense but displayed on the search engine's pages, will cease operations in Europe from March.

"By focusing our efforts on sponsored links and display advertising in Europe, we will reinforce our commitment to offering advertisers a high return on investment and underline our mission to be bc data europe the partner advertisers choose to meet their marketing objectives," a spokesperson for the company told the online publication.

He stressed that this withdrawal from the European market was in no way synonymous with the same initiative in the United States. This news has come to light after it was announced that Carol Bartz will be CEO of the company. Added to this are revived rumours: Yahoo and Microsoft are said to have plans around search engine marketing. Bartz has been blunt with the media, stating that it was too early to talk about the future of the company.
