With the US presidential election coming down to a handful of votes in a few key states, the question of whether candidates are reaching the right audience on social media is a critical, if difficult, issue.
Kolsquare data shows that the candidate audience on social media is as gender-polarized as the political landscape itself.
70% of @kamalaharris’ Instagram audience and 65% of her TikTok audience are w vp r&d email database omen, and more than half of her Instagram audience (57.6%) is between the ages of 18 and 34. The vast majority of Harris and her team’s Instagram audience (80.9% and 88.2% respectively) resides in the United States.
Additionally, 65% of @realdonaldtrump’s Instagram and TikTok audience is male, and 61.4% of its Instagram audience is between the ages of 18 and 34. But only 48.7% of Trump’s Instagram audience and 63.1% of @teamtrump’s audience reside in the U.S.
Analysis of candidate campaigns on social media confirms the widely held opinion among influencer marketing experts: the number of followers is no guarantee of success on social media.
Trump has millions more followers than Harris, but many of them are not where he needs them. And on TikTok, massive follower counts don't translate into organic content or massive engagement.
Finally, we wish we could tell you whether campaigns are reaching Gen Z users in Pittsburgh or Atlanta, but with thousands of KOLs activated in both camps, it’s nearly impossible to get a detailed breakdown of where their audiences are located unless you go through their profiles one by one.
